Community Participation
CIS ADP offers a lavish comfortable program site, however the thrust of the program is to help people to attain and retain their community membership; to be active, meaningful participants in the community.
Transportation is available for daytime experiences in the community. Most outings will involve a small group, but some might be with one-to-one support. Program participants and their support teams help design their own community experiences.
This may be more than “just a recreational outing or a field trip.” Developing “informal membership” at a local restaurant that welcomes and understands you may be a project we work on together. Getting comfortable at a local library and familiar with staff is another example of community participation. You may want to submit your artwork to a local art gallery, or volunteer at a church. Present your ideas, and we will help you plan and achieve your goals and experiences for meaningful community participation.
